Members
The Commission shall be composed of seven (7) individuals, five (5) of whom shall be residents taxpayers of the city. Qualifications for membership to the Commission shall be at the discretion of the Mayor and the City Council, but a balance that includes persons with educational or professional backgrounds in real estate, engineering, planning or other related fields should be sought.

Overview
The P&Z Commission performs such duties and functions as are set forth in Chapter 211 of the Texas Local Government Code, the City's Zoning Ordinance as set forth in Appendix A and any other rule, regulation or law applicable to a Zoning Commission.
The charge of the P&Z Commission is to aid the City Council in an advisory capacity by reviewing, studying, and recommending long range plans for the City's future in accordance with the Comprehensive Plan and in those areas including, but not limited to, water and sewer services, annexation and growth, roads and bridges, drainage and other matters affecting the public health, safety, and welfare.
