Signs and Sign Permits
Signs in Oak Ridge North
Sign Ordinance 06-07, adopted February 12, 2007, stringently regulates the use of signs, billboards, and other outdoor advertising. The City Council believes that the control of signage will promote and enhance the efficient and safe use of public thoroughfares, streets, and easements.
The purpose of the sign ordinance is to balance the need for businesses to advertise with the community's desire for an attractive, less cluttered appearance in residential and commercial areas. Unregulated signage can present impediments and dangers to traffic, present other hazards, and may threaten the health and safety of citizens and devalue property.
If you wish to engage in signage, contact us at (281) 292-4648 ext. 301 in advance for more information. You may be subject to and responsible for sign-related permit fees, applications, inspections, as well as penalties if you begin sign work without obtaining a permit.
