Inspections

New Construction Inspections
New constructions require several inspections. Applicants must call for inspections. The inspector must have 24 hours advance notice to perform the inspection. You may submit your request by calling the INSPECTION LINE at (832) 381-3298 or email at inspections@oakridgenorth.com

Any work that does not conform to permit-approved plans will require reinspection and additional inspection fees. If the work continues without resolving the problem, a stop work order will be issued.

Building Inspections
Foundation inspections occur after trenches are excavated and forms are erected. Frame inspections occur after the roof, framing, and fire blocking and bracing are in place. All wiring, pipes, chimneys, ducts, and vents that should be concealed must be concealed. The final building inspection occurs after the building is completed and ready for occupancy.

Electrical Inspections
Underground inspections take place after trenches and ditches are excavated and conduits and cables are installed before backfilling. Rough-in inspections occur after the roof, framing, and fire blocking and bracing are in place and prior to the installation of wall and ceiling membranes. The final electrical inspection occurs after the building is complete, all required electrical fixtures are in place and properly connected and protected, and the structure is ready for occupancy.

Fence Inspections
Existing fences shall comply with current provisions for safety and proper maintenance. New fences shall comply with current provisions and any other applicable law. A permit is required for fence construction. The City will investigate any violations of fence provisions, including a failure to maintain a fence within the provisions. You can find these provisions in the City Code of Ordinances Chapter 14 Article 15. The City does not settle disputes between property owners.

Gas Inspections
Rough piping inspections occur after all new piping has been installed and before piping has been covered or any gas appliances have been connected. Final piping inspections occur after all the piping has been installed and concealed but before appliances have been connected. This includes a pressure test.

Final gas inspections are made on all new gas work and portions of existing gas systems that may be affected by new work. This assures that the installation and construction of the gas system are in accordance with reviewed plans.

Plumbing Inspections
Underground plumbing inspections are done after trenches and ditches are excavated, piping is installed, and before backfill. Rough-in inspections occur after the roof, framing, fire blocking and bracing are in place and soil, waste, and vent piping are complete, all before wall and ceiling membranes are installed. Final plumbing inspections are done after the building is complete, all fixtures are in place and connected, and the structure is ready for occupancy.

HVAC Inspections
Underground inspections are done after trenches and ditches are excavated, underground duct and fuel piping are installed, and before backfill. Rough-in inspections occur after the roof, framing, and fire blocking and bracing are in place, concealed components are complete, and before wall and ceiling membranes are installed. Final inspections are done once the building is complete, the mechanical system is in place and connected, and the building is ready for occupancy.
